The Concert Hall “Latvija” – a music, art and education space offering unique content, with excellent acoustics, refined repertoire and broad technical capabilities.

 

The Concert Hall “Latvija” – a place, where music aficionados can enjoy the music of Latvia’s top musicians and bands, as well as the exclusive performances of musicians from abroad. This is a venue for various artistic events encompassing many genres, for international cooperation projects and educational events.

 

The pride of the Concert Hall is the two world-class, unique musical instruments: a manual acoustic organ made by Johannes Klais Orgelbau GmbH & Co. KG in Germany, and the current world’s biggest upright piano, made by Dāvids Kļaviņš, piano maker of Latvian origin.

 

There are 578 seats in the Grand Hall of the Concert Hall “Latvija”.

 

The Small Hall is for chamber-format events and can be transformed into an open-air stage, when necessary.

Ventspils Culture Centre:

 

    • Implements Ventspils City Council orders regarding culture events, process, program and projects;
    • Promotes and supports artistic creativity processes, preserves culture inheritance and traditions and their further development;
    • Carries out organisation of national festivities, commemoration days, concerts, festivals and other culture events in Ventspils;
    • Encourages and supports activities of national culture societies and Ventspils minority creative groups.

 

Also You have the possibility to join any of the amateur performance groups – a choir, vocal band, song band, folklore group, vocal instrumental band, orchestra, dance groups, theatre club, or national applied art groups.

VENTSPILS MUSEUM
Ventspils Museum studies and sums up history of the Ventspils City and region, works on the Ventspils City chronicle, builds the museum stock, carries out the museum’s scientific work, including organisation and marketing of archaeological and scientific conferences. The Culture Centre systematically supplements the museum’s permanent exhibition and the unique digital exposition “Living History”.

 

The Ventspils Museum also is in charge of activities of its four branches and takes active part in the city’s cultural life.

The largest library in the city. Objective of the International Writers’ and Translators’ House is to create an international multi-functional centre for writers and translators in Latvia to further the development of literature, encourage intercultural dialogue, promote local literary processes on the international level, as well as to facilitate decentralization of literature development process in Latvia, thus creating a favourable cultural environment in the regions.

 

The House offers to writers and translators:

    • a creative work space in Ventspils, one of the most beautiful Latvian cities on the Baltic Sea;
    • an opportunity to live and work in the House for 4 weeks;
    • an opportunity to discover Ventspils, a city where history meets tomorrow, and the coast of the Baltic Sea, one of the most attractive and inspiring coastlines in Europe;
    • an opportunity to meet other writers and translators from Latvia, the Baltic states, Europe and other places all over the world;
    • an opportunity to take part in creative cooperation projects, e.g. festivals, seminars, etc.
